We finally moved Miles into his own room! Since we live in a 2 bedroom home, this means that Joe and I moved our room to the basement. The room had no curtains- so I had a fun project on my hands! And, of course, I had to make coordinating pillows
We still need to paint and add some finishing touches, but we’ve got a good start. As you can see, we really like color. I’ll post more photos once the room is completed. I’ll also be posting photos of Miles’ room once the….uh…robots arrive. Can you guess what color we will be painting the walls???

Maple Rosemary Steaks. May 21, 2008
This is a marinade that would be great for beef or chicken. Makes enough for 4 servings of meat. I used it for 2 large sirloin steaks. Our side dish was smashed garnet yams seasoned with maple syrup, salt and pepper.
Maple Rosemary Steaks
2-4 steaks, cut of your choice
1/3 c. balsamic vinegar
1/3 c. maple syrup
1/4 c. olive oil
2 t. salt
3 T. fresh rosemary
1/2 t. fresh ground pepper
3 garlic cloves, crushed
Combine ingredients for marinade in large ziplock. Add meat. Marinate for 1 hour- 24 hours and grill meat to desired doneness.

bananas foster cookies. May 18, 2008
Well, tonight I felt like baking something. The problem is, that my husband and I have been trying to eat better. I usually make whatever I feel like, but tonight was thinking of what I could bake that would use bananas or applesauce in place of fat. Then I started thinking about the flavors in Bananas Foster and low and behold…this recipe was born! These are actually not healthy, but they could be worse for you
Bananas Foster Cookies
Caramel:
1/4 c. butter or margarine
1/2 c. brown sugar
1/4 c. fat free evaporated milk
pinch of salt
1/2 t. vanilla
In small saucepan over medium heat, melt butter. Add brown sugar and whisk until combined. Add milk and whisk about 2 minutes. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla and salt. Cool and refrigerate.
Cookies:
3 c. Flour
3/4 t. baking powder
1/2 t. salt
1/2 t. cinnamon
3/4 c. mashed banana
1/4 c. butter
1 c. sugar
1 egg
Measure dry ingredients, set aside. Cream butter and banana with sugar. Add egg and mix. Add dry ingredients slowly. Mix. Refrigerate for 1 hour. Shape into balls and roll in granulated sugar. Place balls onto cookie sheet, flatten slightly and using index finger, create a cavity for the caramel sauce. Carefully spoon caramel sauce into cavity using 1/2 teaspoon measure. Bake at 350 degrees for approximately 8-10 minutes. Cool for 3 minutes and move to cooling rack. Cool completely before serving.
