Jenny-
I don't know what his ventricles were measuring at the 21 week ultrasound. But, I do know that it was severe enough that no one ever mentioned ventriculomegaly (which I beleive is ventricles measuring between 10-15 mm) At his final ultrasound (36 wks) his ventricles were measuring about 45-50mm. Which is very severe. His head was 53.5 cm at birth which is the biggest I've heard of. He really is doing so well and there is so many amazing things they can do for these little kids. I know you must be scared- please feel free to email me with any questions at all- leefloraldesign@aol.com
Best wishes,
Sherri

Oh my! Thank you so much for your blog, especially about Miles. My ultrasound yesterday (at 19 weeks, a little earlier than yours) indicates hydrocephaly, though how bad we aren't sure. We'll have another tomorrow. Do you mind my asking how severe your son's diagnosis was when first noticed?

Happy 4 months to Miles!!! It sounds like he is doing wonderfully!

It is so interesting to me that so many of the mothers that I have met with hydrocephalic children have all experienced the SAME things. Why do these doctors do that? I cringe when I think of all the babies that ARE being aborted who because of recommendations from their doctors. I too have thought of sending my first perinatologist a picture of Elisabeth.....actually...I think I will. Not a mean note, but one that tells him how well she is doing. Perhaps it will make an impression. Perhaps he will learn not to give up on life so easily....perhaps :)

Sherri,

Beautifully said! Miles is amazing to me in every way; even though I have not met him or your family. When I feel despair over my pregnancy and what our baby's future could be, I am reminded of Miles and how wonderful and perfect he is! God has created our babies in this way; perfectly in His eyes. How priviledged are we that get to watch His plans unfold. I can't even imagine what the great things are in store for our futures!

Jill
2 weeks and counting :)
